Self-Assessment for the year-6/3/11
Reflecting on my year in portfolio, I feel that i have found considerable success with my art. The year started off slow and I was very unsure as to how the year would turn out. I wanted the year to be very strong, seeing as it would be my last year of art. As the year progressed I found my groove and began to complete pieces day by day, pushing out multiple pieces each week. Looking back, I have a total of 85 pieces. I could not be more proud of the success that I have found and the skills that I have learned. The time that was spent in making art and perfecting my skill will never feel wasted. I know that one day I will reflect on what I have done and be truly grateful for the days spent in art class. I hope that I can take the knowledge and skills that I have gained and branch that off to those who are around me. Senior year portfolio has transformed the way I think, feel, see and believe. I am now the artist I always wanted to be and I hope that I continue to grow, both as an artist and as a person.
3rd Marking Period-3/25/11
In entering the 3rd marking period, i had already felt that my prowess in art was nearly at its peak. Though as we plunged into the still life, i learned that my skills were far from growing. This year was my first time working on the still life out of the 4 years that i have attended the school. It was an experience that i did not look forward to, yet after experiencing the learning process, i could not be more happy that i did. I enjoyed learning from the still life and it certainly reflected on the works of art that i have been creating and am currently working on. I find that the culmination of drawing from observation and abstract painting can truly create a style all its own. The third marking period taught me a lot about myself, mainly how i have much to learn in the field of art and that i have just touched the tip of the ice berg. I am excited to find out what the 4th marking period reveals, especially with the growing pressures of the art show.
2nd Marking Period-1/13/11
With the second marking period i found a lot of success both with developing my art skill and creating art. I found that my style and work ethic had a dramatic change. Instead of attempting to fly through the pieces and create 20 in a week, i reverted my style and began making a single piece a week. Through doing so i have begun to pay extreme attention to detail and to focus on the background and story of the piece. I have seen a dramatic change in my art and myself, and its something that im excited to see come to an end. The year has been so fun with art and creation, i hope to keep that momentum at a constant. With the next semester i will begin to create my mural, which i am extremely excited. Throughout my school career i always pondered how i would leave my mark. Only now do i see that it could be more clear.
1st Marking Period – 11/4/10
Going into the first marking period, i found much success with making art. Instead of focusing on one piece for too long, i flew through pieces and made a collection that i truly love. I wanted to try to capture different stories and themes of life, which i feel i accomplished. I can only hope that this flow of art making continues as the year progresses. I know that I have increased my art making skills as far as choosing materials and using them to their full potential. Now i want to begin honing these skills and pushing to become better. I want to begin to fill the pieces to the fullest and still have a story behind it.

2009/2010 School Year
Overall assesment-6/10/10 As the school year comes to an end, i can reflect on the work that i did this year and determine how far ive come along. My ceramics skills have come to a point where i feel comfortable working with clay, glazes, and slip and am able to think out a piece and execute it well. My painting and drawing skills have heightened as well with the characters i draw and the surroundings i put them in. I plan on taking the skills that i have learned this year and putting them to good use as far as next year goes. This year has taught me alot in the art field as far as watching my time and making sure that things are done when they need to be. Putting my display up in the art show motivated me to make sure that i push myself next year to make as much art as possible.
3rd Marking period
In the 3rd marking period i feel that i have developed my skills in ceremics greatly. I have had alot of time to plan out what my next steps will be and executed them as needed. The coil pots are turning out to great success and as the year goes on i plan on hoaning my skills even more. Although i have the creation part down, i still need to work on the glazing afterwards. I find that the glazing process of the pots takes longer than making the actual pot itself. Progressing into the 4th marking period, i hope that i can improve on this. The class also gives me an oppertunity to increase on my drawing skills. On each pot i plan on putting an assortment of characters to give the pot a sense of vibrancy and make it stand out. Although this is a long and slow process, the pots come out to much success.
As the art show approaches in may, i feel a necessity to pump out more and more pieces. Although i know that time is running out, i still have to take my time and make sure that each piece comes out exactly as i see it. I look forward to what i will have completed by the art show and so far i am pleased with the work i have completed.
